Those were the days when I loved to play,
With toys and dolls made of mud and clay.
Those were the days when memories filled,
My face with charm and mind apt thrilled.
Those were the days when I dared to fear,
Surrounded with love and loved ones to cheer.
Then came those days as years passed by,
Life seemed strange to face and live by.
Who knows where I left those days,
All smile and cheer seem to fade.
Lost alone in a world of hate,
As I followed values that were true and straight.
Followed my heart rather than mind,
Never with motives or desires unkind.
But as we know this world to be,
Jealous to accept a good quality.
Sacrifices are all words to say,
Promises are made but only to break.
Trying to help, offered love and shade,
Only to find myself hurt instead.
(This was written at a time when I was facing a tough childhood. A young girl who was loved by her grandma understood her.)
