A day ago, my kid had a button decoration inter school competition at school. Buttons have occupied a special place especially in life of women. Since childhood, I have been good at art and craft. Anything from colors to nature fascinated me. Collecting buttons was fun. In fact I even inherited my grandmas button box after marriage and took it with me. Now my daughter loves colorful buttons and has started enjoying button craft. I just taught my kids how to stitch a button if ever Mom is not around. Credits to Google, I learnt that Buttons were originally used more as an ornament than for fastening. Earlier, buttons used to have a decorative flat face that would fit into a loop. These days buttons come in beautiful textures, colors, shapes and sizes. Imagine rolling a box full of buttons on the floor. So exciting it would be!
Is it buttons in life or Life in a button is what we need to ponder.
Well, talking of buttons, how can I forget to mention that Mobile Phones have taken control and has ignited a fire in an era of stress and concern about losing or maintaining human touch. Elevators, mobile phones, keypads have enabled us to have access to anything and everything with just “a push of a button”. How we love, communicate, play, pursue our passion, work is now dominated by a single button. Communication has reached another level. Without even dialing a number, my feelings, work can be communicated. It is not necessary to talk or speak to be served. When I step into my hotel room, all I need to do is press a button and my yummylicious snack is on my table. I want to go to a Spa. All I do is press a button. Yay! My life gets magical with all the buttons around me. Manual buttons have now been replaced by electric buttons that acts as a bridge between distance barriers.
Should I enjoy these buttons and relax? OR Is it a warning? Am I missing something? Am sure I am missing reading between the lines in this context. We also hear about Bureaucracy, Leaders and Politicians, even People who live their lives only with these buttons. What about people who have made it to the peak by sheer hard work and self-determination? Buttons of laziness, hopelessness, spoon feeding, fake success should be passive, and buttons of activeness, honesty, grit and self-effort should be made active.
Who pushes the button in your life? Which button activates you? Do ponder.
Buttons – Pushing buttons must have made life comfortable and luxurious or simple. But do not allow this finger action to dominate your real desires and passion.
