Interestingly I tend to catch up any word and start writing on it. Today morning, as I was sipping on tea sitting on my rocking chair (almost 100 years old) that I inherited from my grandma and her brother, I always feel the blessings and warmth passing through my skin when I spend some time sitting on that chair. It brings back happy memories and sorts out my head when I spend time sitting on it.
A chair can represent Power. It can be a placed in a corner meant for solace/comfort time or even a place of sorrow/grief and death. A chair can simply be a place to sit when you want to rest.
I often use this chair for insight and relief. It is so exciting. Gestalt believes in change. Living in the present. The empty chair technique is a popular talk exercise to gain focus and insight. You express your own thoughts and feelings as if you are actually talking to a real person on that chair. The words, tone, gestures and pitch that you use helps you to imagine that person sitting in front of you.
My rocking chair is now a part of my family. We have mutually agreed to use it as a Peace corner when any of us feel unfocused, low or any ongoing issue in our mind. Somehow this chair gives answers to us. It might sound silly, but it is the belief that we have in the chair that brings us those answers. You may have your belief in something else. But this way, having a place to go to when you are low and finding your way out is important. It is a reminder to be aware and self-focus. It helps us to wake up every morning to a new day and reminds us that after every night, there is day.
Pull up a chair when you feel empty. If you could have a conversation with someone, or with a part of yourself, who would you chose to speak to? What would you want to say? How would you feel to be able to frankly speak your mind?
